In Gavin and Camryn news the word of the month seems to be "self". Both of them have become quite independent and want to do things for themselves. Buckling into the chairs at the table is a favorite and they love to try to get dressed and put on their shoes. When I'm folding laundry it's a race to get to the clothes first to start putting them on. Camryn likes to get as many articles of clothing on as she can and G puts on one and then points out which clothes belong to Daddy. "Shirt. Daddy!!!" Apparently he couldn't care less which clothes are mine.
Since our vacation Gavin has been saying a lot more words. He repeats things we say and can name tons of things now. He has started putting 2 words together like "Help, peeese!" and "Car. Go?" I'm quite proud of my little man and am staring to wonder when I'll ever get a word in once these two are chatting it up.
Camryn has started to sing the alphabet, although she misses a few letters (makes it cuter:) and is still talking up a storm. I forsee a LOT of arguing about things she can and can't do in our future. Speaking of can and can't do we've been doing Time Outs now, too. They have a spot in the corner of the kitchen (which G calls the conna) and we put the microwave on a timer to make sure they do all of their time:) They have been doing surprisingly well with staying put considering only a few weeks ago we had to sit with them to keep them there. G does spend most of the time saying "beep!!!!!!!" as in.."dammit microwave timer, beep so I can get outta here."
Both of them are recognizing some shapes and letters and we've been trying to get some colors down. Grandma and Grandpa are great at working with them during the day, too so I have no doubt they'll be writing me notes telling me what I great Mom I am in no time.
Then there's the potty..
I honestly was not ready to potty train them. My grand plan was to start working on it in November when I have a week off and then filling in Grandma and Grandpa to keep it consistent once I went back. We bought them the potties a while ago but just a month or so ago started leaving them available to them all day in the living room. On vacation I let them in the bathroom with me a few times and that was it, they wanted to do it, too. Once we got home C especially was into using hers. They are both trying a bunch of times everyday and have had success. C is a little more ready than G but him copying and at least wanting to try is good enough for me for now. I'm pretty sure that NOTHING I've ever planned with these two has ever panned out how I expected so I have no idea why I thought they'd potty train on my schedule! Score: Twins-345,987,328 Mommy-0
I think that's about it for now. My picture taking has been a bit behind, too since I am pretty much ready to pass out when I get home from a day full of 4 year olds. I did take a few last weekend in the backyard when they were in their Giants gear practicing saying "Go Blue!"
We're hoping to go apple picking soon so our blog of videos, pictures and field trips should be back in no time.
Watching Daddy hose off the deck and door...

Stopping to smell the flowers...
Practicing for his first date...

Sounds like everyone is adjusting just fine. I'm impressed with the potty usage I must say. I gave up and will try again in a few months.
Only your kids would throw you for a loop because they were MORE ready for something. Glad you're adjusting to being back to work. I knew you would!
