The snowy day...

Earlier this week we heard it was going to snow again. How can we not hear really. For some reason, although we live in the Northeast, it is big news when a snow storm is coming. Cracks me up every time. Each news station is the same. Reporting live as the trucks get their salt for the roads. Reporting live from outside a grocery store.."What is it that you are buying, sir?" and of course outside of a Home Depot-ish store to see who is buying shovels and salt. I guess I can see the good side of this since it's better than what they could be reporting about. Slow news days are good days really. It's just funny to me and I decided to ramble about it;)

Anyway, onto the real topic here. Our giant purple dinosaur friend Barney has inspired us once again. This time it was with a song about cookies accompanying a video with kids helping to bake and decorate. Well, my hubby loves to cook, especially with the kids, so it was all set that we'd be baking this morning with the snow falling outside. I think he mentioned it about 350 times yesterday (Dave that is, not Gavin:) So Barney, you big lug. You have one annoying voice and a cast of cheery, perfect children that can easily annoy anyone (except for my kids of course!) but I can't lie, you are an inspiration. So far you've sparked ideas for 2 cooking activities with the kiddos so I suppose you can stick around for awhile.
I took plenty of pictures of the kids helping make the cookies of course. Funny thing is that whenever we do these kinds of projects we have them in their chairs at the table so it looks pretty similar to the pizza pictures, minus the pizza:)

Cutting out the dough:

Decorating:

And eating!

This is just an extra one that I love because they are doing the exact same thing at the exact same time. The look on their faces is even similar...

We also got to play outside in the snow today. The kids had a blast, and so did we! We pulled them around on the sled and just walked around the yard checking everything out. Unfortunately I was out of memory card space so I only got a few pictures. I'm hoping to go out again tomorrow and I can take more. At one point Dave was pulling all three of us on the sled. I'm thinking he might be sore tomorrow!
Now if only we can get a snowstorm during the week so I can have an extra day off!

Looks like all that Play Dough practice really paid off! Now they're experts at making cookies!! I love this post. The pics are great and the writing so entertaining and funny.

Cute pics! Is that a different sled than you had last year? They look adorable and I'm super impressed that they will keep their hats on!

Childs say: "You make me happy, Mom ...." I remember, not want to go to a cool mother.
