Snowmen at night...

Every time it's snowed lately (which is a lot!) Dave and I keep promising the kids we'll make a snowman. Unfortunately we weren't having any luck because the snow was too fluffy and just wouldn't stick together. Not quite sure how others in our neighborhood were able to do it! Well, finally the storm we just got was full of wet snow, perfect for snowman building. Dave took the kids out while I enjoyed a (peaceful) shower with no one to bother me.

This is the snowman they built:

One of the books we've been reading to the kids lately that they reallly like is Snowmen at Night. It has great illustrations and rhyming text and is about what snowmen do once you leave them on the lawn and go to bed. Since they sort of "got" the idea of Santa this year I decided it would be fun to put some things around the snowman to make it look like he was doing some of the things the snowmen in the story did. Here is the after from this morning:

This picture was taken from the back door because it was early and I was cold so it isn't the best but you get the idea. He has his sled from sledding (obviously), a cup of ice cold cocoa (chocolate milk) like in the book, his hood is now crooked and there are leftover snowballs from his snowball fight in the bottom of the sled. We took the kids to the back window when they woke up to check it out and it was really cute. They were surprised to see the stuff near him and Gavin loved that he had the cocoa because that's his favorite part. Camryn said "wooowwww Mommy!" Definitely worth the trek out in the yard the night before to set it up:)
